Instructions for installaing TrackSat/CE v2.10

Please read the "tshelp.htm" file for information on how to use the new features.

I am giving the MSinstaller another try, so installation is no as per standard Windows CE.

I suggest before you install this update that you do a backup of your PPC to your desktop system using Activesync ( when your PPC is connected to your desktop using activesync, click on Tools/restore on the active sync app.). I have tested this neww app reasonably extensively, and I don't expect it will do anything bad to your PPC, however I have to say it incase anything does go wrong !!!!

Assuming if you have one, that your existing copy of TrackSat/CE was installed to the default directory ( \Program Files\TrackSat CE), the new version should install directly over the top of the existing version, and all shortcuts etc. should still operate as before. If your existing copy is not installed in the default directory, then I suggest that you de-install it using the standard PPC " remove programs " app.

( Hint: if you copy settings.ini from your PPC to your desktop before you install, and then copy it back to the TrackSat/CE directory after you have completed installation, you will not need to re-enter you registration, and QTH details if you are upgrading from a recent version)

You will need about 3MB of spare memory on your PPC (not in external CF ram!) to install the app.

Don't forget to read the help file for details on operating !!

Please let me know of any bugs, or suggestions for improvements. email me at zl3ad@qsl.net.

Known issues

Pocket PC 2002.
There is a known problem with the implementation of the Pocket Outlook Object Model (POOM) in this new version of the OS.
What this means is that if you are running PPC 2002 version of the OS, you will not be able to export AOS info to your calendar.
**** Update 10 january 2002*****
THere is a Patch available now for the PPC2002 OS which addresses the above issue (and some other s as well). I have downloaded and applied this patch to my Ipaq 3870 and is now functioning properly

Decimal delimiter not set to "."
If your delimiter is set to anything other than a decimal point ( ie a "," as is common in Europe) the program will not start. This is a tricky problem that I have not had the persistence to track down, and am not completely sure it isn't and undocumented feature put into eVB by MS. I'm sorry but in the meantime the only workaround is to change your regional settings to use a "."

happy sat tracking !!
